Prosecutor’s Office Investigates The Purchase Of Protective Equipment Found At The Institute Of Legal Medicine

The Public Ministry reported that the prosecutor of the Nation Zoraida Ávalos Rivera ordered that the acquisition of health protection equipment (PPEs) found in the Forensic Clinical Unit (UCF) of the Institute of Legal Medicine of Lima be investigated with a label that indicated "EsSalud its sale prohibited ”.

As reported, on Friday, September 3, the forensic doctors of the UCF of the Institute of Legal Medicine of Lima warned that within the protective equipment (PPEs) that the institution received for the health protection of personnel (disposable overalls or overalls), some had the aforementioned label with the inscription of Essalud.

The Fifth Office of the Second Provincial Corporate Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption of Officials, headed by the prosecutor Karla Zecenarro Monge, preliminarily investigates those who are responsible for the alleged commission of crimes against the public administration in the form of collusion. and embezzlement to the detriment of the State.

Zecenarro Monge has ordered the verification of the referred personal protective equipment in the warehouses of the Institute of Legal Medicine. Likewise, it has been gathering all the documentation that allows to know the origin of the equipment and the process of hiring them. This in addition to identifying who was in charge of the reception, custody, inventory and distribution of the goods.

The crime of collusion is stipulated in article 384 of the Penal Code and has a penalty of 3 to 6 years in prison, while the crime of embezzlement (article 387) is punishable by 4 to 8 years.
