The New York floods, in pictures

At least more than nine people have died as a result of the strong storms that hit the states of New Jersey and New York on the east coast of the United States in recent hours, according to police sources.

In New York City, which is in an emergency situation, there have been seven of the deaths, according to the New York police, while in the nearby state of New Jersey two more people have died, according to the mayor of the city of Passaic, Héctor Lora.

The storms are part of the remnants of Hurricane Ida, which, now downgraded to a storm, has crossed the eastern part of the country since it entered the state of Mississippi, where it caused severe flooding.[
