Today: Snow moves in this afternoon and ends late evening, with some of the heavier snow falling in our southern counties during the evening commute. Areawide, Eastern Iowa could see another trace to an inch of snow. However, a narrow band may develop from Tama through Dubuque, where these locations could receive an additional 3 inches. North winds are at 5-10 mph. High temperatures rise to the teens north to mid 20s south.
Tonight: Snow comes to an end in the evening, leaving a mostly cloudy sky for our overnight. Northeast winds go calm. Low temperatures fall to the single digits to low teens.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy for Thursday, with slightly warmer temperature. Highs are near the mid 20s to low 30s. South winds are at 5-10 mph.
Thursday Night: It’s still cloudy for Thursday night. Low temperatures fall to the teens.
New Year’s Eve: If you have any New Year’s Eve plans, you should be in good shape. High temperatures warm to about 30 degrees, under a cloudy sky.
New Year’s Day: Accumulating snowfall looks likely for New Year’s Day. This may be an areawide event, meaning travel may be difficult no matter where you go. Temperatures are much colder, with highs barely making it to the teens. Lows look to be the coldest we’ve seen so far this season and in the single digits to low teens below zero.
