Alright well we are just hours away from the winter storm we have been talking about, we've got a winter storm warning. This was a watch earlier. All these areas in pink that has been upgraded to a warning as we are expected to see a little bit more ice accumulation along with those snowfall accumulations for the upstate the mountains. You're going to see basically all snow. But look at this, this is the main area of concern here. The ice storm warning anywhere from 1/10 up to an inch of ice is possible. Alberton, Abbeyville, Greenwood, Lawrence Union. Now we're going to see some ice accumulation in other areas. This is just going to be the greatest area of concern. We've also got a winter storm watch for portions of Northeast Georgia, mix of snow and ice in your area as well. So right now 1/10 to a quarter inch of ice is going to be the average across the upstate in areas where there is a warning, it's going to be higher, maybe even up to an inch that of course almost guarantees power outages. So we are expecting spotty power outages as we go throughout the day tomorrow. On top of that ice, waiting down some of those power poles and power lines and trees. We're also gonna have pretty gusty winds. Look at that wind gusts of 30, 50 mph coming in pretty strong as we start tomorrow morning and it goes throughout the early afternoon. Here's the area of low pressure. This is the main event out ahead of it. We've got some rainfall as it marches a little bit closer to us, it's going to take us several hours so temperatures will be colder. So we're looking at a lot of it starting as snow and then on the backside it will be snow as well. So let's take a look. Here comes this area of low pressure driving to the south of us again, we'll see a couple isolated showers today tonight but the main event is not going to get going until after nine or 10:00. That's when we're gonna see the most widespread overnight and early tomorrow morning you'll awaken to a little bit of sn owfall for most of us across the upstate. But then we're going to see that transition and that's where we're gonna get into that sleet, freezing rain kind of slushy mess. And then on the backside of this we'll get a little bit more snowfall adding to those overall total accumulations before just that cold air kind of settles in and stays in place. Here's a closer view as we go into tonight. You'll see three PM this afternoon, we'll see a couple of showers possible. This is way ahead of that storm but we'll have some of that as we go throughout the afternoon, heading into this evening we'll start to see a little bit of freezing rain possibly in some areas snowfall for the mountains. But here you see, here's 2 30 tomorrow morning, lots of snowfall for the mountains all snow for the upstate mostly snow. And then in some of our southern counties you might get a little dusting a couple a couple flurries, but it's going to almost immediately go to freezing rain there first and then that l ine is going to slowly progress northward kind of covering that Greenville Spartanburg area around 89 10 o'clock in the morning. This transition's a little further north and then here we go on the back side as we go into 678 o'clock tomorrow night. That's when we're gonna see all of this transition to snowfall. But drier air is going to be funneling in at the same time. So it's going to taper off pretty quickly in terms of snowfall totals. This is still a estimation here. Some of us will end up on the lower side, some of us will end up maybe a little bit higher. Places like travelers rest where you're getting into north of I 85 here, just shy of that line, you could see isolated areas of four or five inches. No problem. Maybe even a little bit more. But you see as you go farther south, you're looking at a trace or just a dusting and barely anything in terms of accumulation. So here we go today, cold air in place 44 degrees for a high, we're going to drop to about 30 for a high tomor row it's gonna be cold, blustery stuff falling from the sky. It is going to be a day where you do not want to be outdoors and then comes monday slick spots. Black ice on mountain roads all across the upstate as well. So make sure you stay cautious of that. And then in the mountains it's going to be a prolonged period of that black ice on area roads through Tuesday morning as well, mm hmm, mm hmm.

A winter storm is just hours away from arriving in the Carolinas. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning and an ice storm warning for our area that is in effect until Monday morning. But this is not the main event. By midnight, widespread snow will be seen across the mountains and Upstate continuing steady until 6 or 7 a.m. For southern counties including Elberton, Abbeville, and Greenwood, a dusting or very light accumulation is possible early Sunday but freezing rain will overtake these areas first. The line slowly pushes north into the rest of the Upstate with sleet and freezin g rain mixing into the area by the mid-morning timeframe.
