The black-legged tick, often known as the deer tick, can transmit numerous illnesses. Two of these -- anaplasma and babesia -- are getting more commonplace in Upstate long island.

Syracuse, N.Y. – For the first 5 years of his tenure at Upstate clinical institution, Dr. Kris Paolino infrequently treated circumstances of a tick-borne sickness referred to as anaplasmosis, or anaplasma.
