Former 'SNL' big name Chris Redd punched in the face in unprovoked assault outside NYC comedy membership, police say - NBC news

Former "Saturday night live" star Chris Redd become punched in the face backyard a famed long island city comedy membership and hospitalized in what police described as an unprovoked assault.

The attack unfolded Wednesday night just after 9:30 p.m. in entrance of the Comedy Cellar, the place Redd became set to perform that nighttime, in the one hundred block of MacDougal street in manhattan, according to the long island city Police branch.

Redd, 37, had simply exited a car in entrance of the club when an unknown individual approached him and punched him, police stated.

Authorities noted the suspect attacked the comic "without prior dialog or provocation." 

The assailant fled after hitting the victim, and Redd was found through responding officers with a laceration to his face. 

Emergency capabilities replied to the scene and transported the victim to NYC health+Hospitals/Bellevue where he became handled and released. 

NBC information has reached out to the comic's representatives for comment.

Surveillance video from a neighboring restaurant got by way of NBC big apple indicates Redd curiously strolling in opposition t the membership when impulsively an unseen adult punches him and knocks him to the ground. 

Fabrizio Cavallacci, the proprietor of Cafe Reggio, which is round the corner to the comedy club and whose cameras recorded the attack, spoke of there became a "massive pool of blood" on the ground.

Comedy Cellar owner Noam Dworman advised NBC big apple they are "deeply upset about what came about and we hope he's k. We desire him again as soon as viable."
