Retired astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the lunar surface, and his accomplice Anca Faur had been over-the-moon excited to tie the knot.

In a small inner most ceremony in l. a., the two became husband and wife on Friday, which additionally marked Aldrin's 93rd birthday. In a Twitter post, Aldrin stated he and his partner were "as excited as eloping teenagers" on the big day.

On my 93rd birthday & the day i will be able to also be honored via residing Legends of Aviation i am happy to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot.We have been joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in la & are as excited as eloping teenagers pic.twitter.com/VwMP4W30Tn

In 1969, Aldrin accompanied Neil Armstrong throughout NASA's ancient Apollo 11 mission, the primary to land americans on the moon.

Aldrin retired from NASA in 1971 and has given that become a vocal advocate for a manned mission to Mars.

His accomplice, Faur, is the executive vp of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC. Aldrin noted on Twitter that both were a pair for greater than 4 years, touring the area collectively and spending time with Faur's grandchildren.
